1. Acknowledgement of Risk
I understand that participation in gravel cycling, outdoor recreation, and related activities involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:

• Physical injury (minor or serious)

• Illness or medical emergencies

• Collisions with vehicles, other participants, or obstacles

• Equipment failure

• Weather conditions

• Wildlife encounters

• Remote terrain and limited access to medical services

I knowingly and freely assume all risks, both known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of others, to the fullest extent permitted by law.


2. Release and Waiver of Liability
In consideration of being allowed to participate in the Event, I hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue The Divide Gravel Adventure, its organizers, directors, employees, volunteers, contractors, sponsors, partners, landowners, and any affiliated entities (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or related to my participation in the Event.

This includes claims for personal injury, property damage, loss, or death, whether caused by negligence or otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted by law.


3. Indemnification
I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claims, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from my participation in the Event or my failure to comply with event rules, instructions, or applicable laws.


4. Medical Responsibility
I confirm that:

• I am physically and medically able to participate in the Event.

• I am responsible for monitoring my own condition and stopping if necessary.

• I authorize the Event organizers to seek emergency medical treatment on my behalf if needed.

I accept full responsibility for any medical costs incurred as a result of participation.


5. Equipment & Conduct

I acknowledge that:

• I am responsible for ensuring my equipment is in safe working condition.

• I will follow all event rules, safety instructions, and the official Code of Conduct.

• Failure to do so may result in removal from the Event without refund.

5.Intoxication & Substance Use
I acknowledge and agree that participation in the Event while intoxicated is strictly prohibited.
I confirm that:

• I will not participate while under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, illegal drugs, or impairing prescription medications

• I understand that impairment significantly increases the risk of injury to myself and others

• I will comply with all applicable laws regarding substance use

The Event organizers reserve the right to remove any participant they reasonably believe to be impaired from the Event without refund, in the interest of safety for all participants, staff, and volunteers.
I accept full responsibility for any consequences resulting from failure to comply with this requirement.


6. Governing Law
This waiver shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Province of Alberta and the laws of Canada applicable therein.


7. Acknowledgement & Agreement
I confirm that:

• I have read this waiver carefully.

• I understand that I am giving up substantial legal rights.

• I am signing this agreement freely and voluntarily.

• This waiver is binding upon myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns.

By registering for the Event, I acknowledge that this agreement constitutes a legally binding waiver and release of liability.
